Hike Description:

Now that Footballs is over we are returning to Sunday hikes!!!

We will meet outside the Glen Park BART station entrance. From there we will walk towards Glen Canyon Park. It is a city park that occupies about 70 acres along a deep canyon adjacent to the Glen Park, Diamond Heights, and Miraloma Park neighborhoods. It has a nice uphill climb. After exploring the park we will walk across Portola Drive to Twin Peaks. Yup. it’s a two-for-one uphill adventure (and there is always the surprise extra peak). After seeing the views,  I am sure we will be quite parched so we will descend and walk to the Inner Sunset for a frosty beverage at the Social Kitchen Brewery. This is a point A to point B so plan accordingly for transportation as we will NOT be returning to Glen Park.

Recommended Clothing:

You never know what is going to happen on top of Twin Peaks. Wear layers.

Fort Funston features 200 foot high sandy bluffs on San Francisco’s southwest coast where the winds blow reliably wildly. No surprise it is one of the premier hang-gliding spots in the country. A network of trails make it ideal for hiking. Dog owners will be happy to know they can take leashes off here. From there we will walk toward Pine Lake Park and Stern Grove (a 33-acre recreational site in the Sunset District). Love the Eucalyptus forest here! We will then head over to the Sunset Reservior Brewing Company on 25th Avenue and Noriega.
